A week or so ago the light for the air bag came on. I read if you disconnected the seat wiring harnas and turned the key on that might have caused it. I read that this can be checked by a Durametric "Enthusiast Package". I had already bought a actron OBDII meter now I need to decide if I want to get one of these? Has anyone used a Durametric? Would I just be better off just taking the car in and having it fixed? Could I end up resetting things by accident, and making a worse mess than what I started with?

Cape Girardeau

06/12/2008 2:09 PM Alert
Bill,
I just bought the Enthusiast version and my guess is that it paid for itself first time I used it....to find the problem and fix it and turn the airbag light off! I also have a great OBDII code reader/clear tool but it doesn't deal with ABS, Airbag, etc....
The reason the Durametric is good for me....I live in Cape Girardeau; I'd have to go up to St. Louis have Pcar Dealer tell me what is wrong, go back to Cape and fix it, go back up to St. Louis and Pcar Dealer clear coed....paying for gas and Pcar Dealer charges....all of this would cost more than this unit cost.
My answer to you..........go for it. Only watch out; it's only good for a total of 3 cars. If you have any more questions give me an email at myvette@charter.net
Good Luck,
Patrick

I don't know if this is the problem but, in the Cayman, if the passenger seat is set too far rearward so it jams against the engine firewall, the passenger airbag light will come on. Just move the seat a little bit forward.
