Like to better understand the requirements for adding 4-point harnesses to a 911 coupe. The DE form indicates that proper seat cut-outs for shoulder straps are required, but that a 4-point harness install does not require a roll bar. Just wanted to confirm this was the case. I assume some form of routing bar for the shoulder straps is required to maintain the proper angles but that's much easier than a complete roll-bar install.
Also, can a 5-point harness be used in 4-point configuration?
Thanks for the clarification.

The short answer is PCA National rules essentially prohibit 4 point harnesses in any Porsche. The full 4 pt Rule is shown below and includes the requirement that the 4 pt. system "... is designed to work in a specific vehicle and that vehicle tag must be attached to the belt system."
I do not know of any 4 point system specifically designed and designated for any Porsche. A 5/6 pt system is permitted IF it is properly configured and mounted (basically in accordance with SCCA rules).
4 Point Harness Standard:
Four point harnesses are not allowed in vehicles with factory supplied seats containing integrated headrests, unless the seats also have routing holes for shoulder harnesses.
In addition to the standard SFI and/ or FIA approved five and/or six point system, the standard will allow a four point system that meets the following requirements:
1. Meet the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 209
2. Attaches to the factory seat belt mounting points
3. Each belt is designed to work in a specific vehicle and that vehicle tag must be attached to the belt system
An example of a system that meets the above criteria is the Schroth Quick Fit system.
