Hello,

I've got a 1999 996 C2 (NB) and I'm looking for something other than the OEM wheels that came with my Porsche.

The size need to be: Front 8X18 with ET/50 Rear 8X10 with ET/65
The ET will depend on what type of wheel, but It needs to clear the brakes and fenders.

If you have some 'good' wheels, other than the Factory 18 inch Turbo style, please email me at < myvette@charter.net > and let's talk.

Thanks,
Patrick Ford

Patrick,

" Good wheels". Are you referring to a better quality (lighter/stronger) wheels or aesthetically more pleasing ones?
I personally do not have an extra set of wheels. However, you may consider BBS or monoblock forged wheels from Champion Motorsports. I just found out that HRE is manufacturing 18 inch monoblock forged wheels as well (very light and strong) for Porsche application (there are a few other reputable brands). They are all very reliable and strong wheels, but extremely expensive. Of course, there are many aftermarket wheels out there, but there are only a few that can exceed or even match the quality and characteristics of OEM Porsche wheels. This is especially true if you plan to track your car.

Ali,
Thanks for reply. I don't put my Porsche on the track so I'm really looking for a set of wheels that look better (to me). BBS Sport would be my frist pick......but cost way to much new. It would be nice to find a used set but I'm guessing that isn't going to happen. I guess I'll have to get a set of aftermarket.
Thanks again for your time.

Patrick,

Whatever you decide, I would urge you get a set of wheels from a reputable manufacturer. Ureliable wheels pose seirous risks even for street driving. Furthermore, heavier wheels than the OEM ones would avdersley affect handling characteristics of your car by increasing the unsprung weight.

You may consider a set of used BBS wheels with proper size and offset from e-bay, Porsche Panorama (there is a wheel section in panorama for various applications), or Porsche-specific internet forum: Rennlist, etc.
